Going green – it’s all about the money

green_ITForrester’s latest Green IT survey shows that the top two reason’s businesses would implement Green IT is to:

  • Lower energy expenses (66% of respondents)
  • Lower IT costs (42% of respondents)

Proposed efforts of government’s across the globe to force businesses to go green with regulatory compliance / laws was 7th on the list with only 16% of respondents indicating it a factor in their decision.

So when it comes to businesses, being green is not as much a  feel good story, as it is an economic one.  Although, helping the environment probably feels a hell of a lot better when you’re increasing your business’s bottom line.

This isn’t new to small businesses, or any size business for that matter.  Implementing new IT solutions are supposed to lower costs and increase ROI, or why would you do it in the first place?

Afterall,  isn’t ROI is so much better, the “greener” it is?
